Film analysis workshop

The Institute of Women’s Studies, with the collaboration of the Ministry  of Culture and “Shashat”, organized a workshop “Challenges that face Palestinian women in the eyes of young Palestinian women”. In the beginning the attendees watched through skype an interview with Areej Abu Eid who spoke about her experience as a female filmmaker in Gaza Stripe.  During the workshop two films, produced by young female filmmakers, were screened and discussion was opened.

It is worth mentioning that the workshop is one of a series of activities carried out by the Institute of Women's Studies on the initiative of two graduates of the master's program in gender and development within the research group that was formed within a course taught by Dr. Adania Shibley in the program about visual culture and gender. The research group has partnered with Dr. Shibley to write a whole chapter about Palestinian screenwriters  in a book about female screenwriters  in the world in English. The article is also published in Arabic in the Journal of Palestine Studies under the title "Shashat al-Makan” .
